Will iv heard of different ways such as moving the camera around on a long shutter speed. but the way i did it was different. My friend had a burn stick with embers on the end, so i just took a shot with high iso (mine was 1600), low aperture (f.5.0 i think) and a long shutter speed (about two or three seconds). then my friend moved the stick around like a mad yoke and that was the result. You can actually kinda see my friend blurred in the background waving the stick.
